Last night firing… oh yeah Babe!!!

I am afraid I watch too much Chef Emeril on TV ;)
But do you think he can do that in his super duper oven? Chef Emeril, I throw my Zetex gauntlet at you!!!
Anyway… here is the result of last night firing of my first copper and bronze clay (which went fine).

afterfiring

The two pairs of earrings on the left are bronze and the two on the right are copper. The pieces before firing were all the same size and we can see how bronze shrinks more than copper, which can be an issue when we mix both metals.

About firing… my next move is to try the fiber blanket box. Not only it is cleaner (the stainless steel box leaves a nasty residue at the bottom of the kiln) but it uses less coal and the hold time is greatly reduced.
But for today, I am going to finish, polish and patina those little puppies.

A bientôt!
Patricia
