Just when I thought that my blog had ADD….

in About this blog

addIt is going 8 months that I have started blogging with ups and downs. More downs that ups, I must admit.

It’s not that I have nothing to say… but I have studied the art of blogging from many sources and learned from people who know much better than me that I should pick a niche and stick with it.

Naturally, I picked the glass/business niche. Which became frustrating because I fell often the envy to talk about other things that inspire me.
So, I started other blogs to talk about those other things: Arizona, travels, SCUBA diving, shooting, gold prospecting… plus a blog in French.
Do you know how much work it takes to maintain one blog? so, 2, 3 or 4… Aarghh… the task was daunting. Eventually, by trying to do too much, I stopped having fun and ended doing nothing. Which was frustrating again, because I really enjoy very much blogging.

And then yesterday, I read a post from Daren of problogger.net who was asking “what is your blogging vice?… what is slowing down to blog more often?”.
I asked myself this question to find out that my blogging vice was to try to be too perfect, to stick to what I have been told I should do instead of following my heart.

My blog is about my journey as an artist. As I resume it: entrepreneur my day, glass artist by night (when electricity is cheaper) and everything else in the between. Being a professional glass artist goes far beyond the glass techniques. I do not start being an artist when I enter my studio and stop when I leave it. This is who I am 24/7.
I am struggling with being a one woman operation to run a business, trying to find tools that will help me work better and faster, and juggling with all parts of my life. I am constantly working to improve the quality my work, but also to find new selling venues as well as new design ideas.

But I also go out there, look around me. I meet people and have experiences that inspire me in my journey. Is it really off topic to talk about it? Nope. If that means that my blog is going to look like it has ADD, so be it ;) but if you look at the big picture, you’ll see that all is linked somewhere. I know I see it.

A bientôt!
Patricia
